Hap’s Take on Cranberry Horse Radish Relish


Hap's take on Mama Stamberg's Cranberry Relish.

Susan Stamberg has talked about this dressing every Thanksgiving on NPR.  Here is my spicier, less sweet take on the recipe.

  • 1 12oz bag of whole raw cranberries, washed
  • 1/2 a medium white onion chopped fine
  • ~1 cup sour cream
  • ~1/8 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons horseradish from a jar of white horseradish

Grind the raw berries and onion together. Don't puree it but don't make it too chunky either.

Add everything else and mix with a spatula.

Put in plastic container and freeze.

Thaw in refrigerator ahead of time. (Susan Stamber says, "It should still have some little icy slivers left.")
