Hap's take on Mama Stamberg's Cranberry Relish.
Susan Stamberg has talked about this dressing every Thanksgiving on NPR. Here is my spicier, less sweet take on the recipe.
- 1 12oz bag of whole raw cranberries, washed
- 1/2 a medium white onion chopped fine
- ~1 cup sour cream
- ~1/8 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons horseradish from a jar of white horseradish
Grind the raw berries and onion together. Don't puree it but don't make it too chunky either.
Add everything else and mix with a spatula.
Put in plastic container and freeze.
Thaw in refrigerator ahead of time. (Susan Stamber says, "It should still have some little icy slivers left.")
